Kazan karateka claimed bronze at the international tournament
Competitions gathered over 300 athletes from 27 countries
An athlete from Kazan Ilya Savin became a medalist at the “Moscow – Karate Universe” international competition. The tournament featured over 300 martial arts athletes, including Olympic champions, from 27 countries.
Ilya Savin competed in the -60 kg weight category. He had bouts with karatekas from Belarus, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Egypt. In the semi-finals, the Ilya lost to the Kazakh athlete – silver medalist of the World Championship, but was superior to the Jordanian in the fight for bronze, the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan reported.
The competitions took place on November 11-14 at the Gymnastics Palace of Irina Viner-Usmanova in Moscow.
In the Tatarstan’s capital, Ilya is training at the “Ak Bure” sports school under the guidance of Iskander Shagin. In his performances, the karateka showcases perfect technique and the highest speed of strikes. The athlete has won many awards and medals: Ilya is the winner and prize-winner of the Russian junior championships and championships, bronze medalist of the European Championships 2020.
