The results of the republican pedigree festival “Echo of centuries in the history of the family” were summed up today in the new building of the Kamal Theater. The Akhmatova-Vakhitov family from Kazan became the winner of the festival, which studied the history of its ancestry from the 14th century.
This year, as many as 299 families from all over the republic took part in the competition, of which 41 qualified the zonal stage. The finalists of the “Echo of centuries in the history of the family” were six relative groups from Kazan and Tatarstan.
At the zonal stage, the Akhatov-Vakhitov family won first place and qualified to the republican stage. The Akhatov family presented a theatrical performance about the history of their family, which originated in the Perm region. The family studied their roots back to the 14th century. The Akhatov-Vakhitovs' ancestors were involved in farming, cattle breeding, and even merchant activities.
Through dancing and playing traditional musical instruments, the family shared the story of their history and ancestors, as well as demonstrating a send-off for war and a wedding ceremony.
They received a certificate in the amount of 200 thousand rubles.
The annual festival “Echo of centuries in the history of the family” is organized by the Tatarstan State Archival Committee. In seven years, 1,300 families have become participants in the event. Among them are those who have been married for over 40 years and have large families.
Participants of the festival present their family histories by creative performances, costumes, and dishes.
