Kazan became the leader in the number of medals in the regional stage of the WorldSkills Championship

According to the results of the main days of the competition, 279 specialists entered the extended Tatarstan national team.

(KZN.RU, November 27, Alina Berezhnaya). The regional stage of the WorldSkills Championship is at the finish line. On December 7, the additional dates for the competition at the International Specialized Exhibition “Mechanical Engineering. Metalworking. Kazan” will be completed. According to the results of the main days of the competition, the extended composition of the Tatarstan national team for participation in the semi-finals and the final of the VII National WorldSkills Championship included 279 young professionals. This was announced today at a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers of the RT by Rafis Burganov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Education and Science of the RT, and Emil Gubaidullin, the general director of the ANO “Center for the Development of Professional Competences”.

Competitions in two main phases of the WorldSkills regional round have been completed in Kazan. 958 contestants from all over the republic took part in 78 competencies.

The most widespread competencies were “Welding technologies”, “Cooking”, “Wiring”, “Turning works on machines with CNC”, “Milling works on machines with CNC”, “Repair and maintenance of cars”, “Bakery”, “Service of cargo vehicles”. According to Rafis Burganov, these specialties are in demand today in the labor market.

The work of the contestants was watched by 997 experts, including 31 certified experts from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, Kemerovo, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Orenburg, Perm, Samara, and Bashkortostan.

37 sites were prepared in 9 localities of the republic especially for the regional stage of the championship. The main of them was the International Exhibition Center “Kazan Expo”. This exhibition center will host the 45th WorldSkills World Championship in May. Rafis Burganov noted that competition days were a test not only for the participants, but also for the venues. So, services were tested at the “Kazan Expo”, such as logistics, catering for client groups, work with visitors, and others. “If we draw a parallel with our sporting events, just preparing the 2013 Universiade, we held dozens of Russian, European, and world-class events to bring all these sites to automatic service”, said Rafis Burganov. “This time we made the work on the sites especially difficult to make it easier for us during the world stage. I can’t say that all the services are satisfying, but we conduct all these tests for this purpose”.

Following the results of 6 competitive days, 279 young specialists in 128 competencies entered the extended composition of the Tatarstan national team. The greatest number of medals have been taken by Kazan experts. Emil Gubaidullin noted that the winners are not only residents of the capital and other major cities of the republic, but also from the districts. “It is especially pleasant for us that the geography of the regional stage and the winners is growing every year. Thus, Kazan is represented by 160 participants in the Republican national team; the rest are participants from other cities and districts of Tatarstan”, said Emil Gubaidullin.

Now the national team of the republic will be involved in an intensive preparation for the semi-finals and the finals of the VII National WorldSkills Championship. Competitions are scheduled for next spring.

The 45th WorldSkills World Championship will be held in Kazan from 22 to 27 of August 2019. The championship will bring together young professionals from more than 60 countries of the world competing in 56 competencies.
