In Kazan, the modernization of the library on Barudi Street will be completed by summer

<p> After reconstruction, library No. 27 on Barudi Street in Kazan will become the third in the city modernized uder the new standard. In addition to traditional bookshelves, there will be a conference room, a media library with vinyl records, a cafeteria, a children's reading area, as well as a baby care room. It is planned to complete the overhaul of the library by the summer. Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin personally inspected the progress of the work and the design project. He noted that the number of visitors in the already modernized libraries has doubled. </p> <p> “There is not much time left till the opening of library. After the renovation, it will correspond to the name of the great scientist and educator Galimjan Barudi and solve an important task to put Kazan citizens back to libraries. Fortunately, there are already positive results at the renovated libraries– the number of visitors on Klara Tsetkin and Mavlyutova streets has doubled,” the Mayor said. For reference, after the renewal of the two facilities, the number of visits last year amounted to about 90 thousand, and the number of books lent was more than 200 thousand. </p> <p> The library on Barudi Street was built in 1989. During this time, the premises have never been overhauled. The repair started last year, and it is planned to complete the work by June 1. Workers will have to repair the entrance, replace utilities and carry out interior decoration of the premises. </p> <p> Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the design project of the library. According to Rezeda Ismagilova, Director of the Centralized Library System of Kazan, the concept reflects the theme of family, origins and traditions. On the walls of the library there are elements of Tatar ornament and panels with the tree of life. The interior decoration of the premises will be made in natural colors. </p> <p> The library will be divided into several zones. Lockers, a reception and books return point, a cafeteria and a photo zone will be placed at the entrance. In the right part of the library there will be a reading room, as well as a conference room for lectures and discussion of literary works. Visitors will also have the opportunity to listen to music and poetry. To do this, a media library with vinyl records will appear in the library. A space for children's reading will be located in the left wing of the building. According to the concept, the library will become a place for families, there will be a baby care room in the library, Rezeda Ismagilova noted. </p> <p> The Mayor of Kazan noted that new spaces and interior elements will help to attract new visitors, while it is important to keep regular visitors. </p> <p> Presently, the collection of library No. 27 comprises over 50 thousand copies of books. After the reconstruction, it will be updated by 50% due to the replenishment of new literature. In addition, a non-contact service station will operate in the library for the convenience of visitors. </p> <p> In addition to library No. 27, the premises of the Central Library of Kazan will be renovated in Kazan this year. The facility with a total area of more than 1 thousand square meters was built in 1987. There will be two reading rooms and a cafeteria area. It is planned to introduce an electronic book recognition system. </p> <p> In 2022, the renovation of the library No. 13 on Khusain Mavlyutov Street was completed. It is the only municipal library in the city with a concert hall. </p>
