Ilsur Metshin inspects the replacement of the pipeline that provides heat to 64 thousand residents in the Moskovsky city district

A 600-meter section of pipe, which was installed 40 years ago at the intersection of Vosstaniya and Vasilchenko Streets, is being replaced

This year, 64 kilometers of utilities will be replaced in the capital of Tatarstan. The largest volume of work will be done at the Kazan heating network, where 26 kilometers of pipes will be renewed at 78 different sites around the city. The Mayor, Ilsur Metshin, inspected the progress of the repair work at one of the longer sections, where the wear exceeded 60%.

In total, there are more than 4,000 kilometers of various utility networks running under Kazan, including heat, sewage, and water pipes. The overall wear on these networks today exceeds 70%.

“We have a great demand for the program for the replacement of utilities that was announced by the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Preparations are underway, and we are actively working to implement this project. This year, we plan to replace 64 kilometers of various networks in the city,”- announced the Mayor.

Of these 64 km, the largest part falls on Kazan heating networks. We will replace 26 kilometers of pipes (41%), at 78 different locations across the city. The Municipal Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal will replace 23 kilometers of pipes, accounting for 36% of the total, and Kazenergo will replace 15 kilometers, accounting for 23%.

One of the largest areas is located at the intersection of Vosstaniya and Vasilchenko streets. In 1985, pipes with a diameter of 720 centimeters were installed here to supply heat to residential buildings for 64,000 residents in the Moskovsky district, as well as schools, kindergartens, and healthcare facilities. After almost 40 years of operation, the pipes have worn out by more than 60%, so in June, work began to replace 600 meters of heating networks.

Currently, 15 specialists and vehicles are working at the site, including cranes, excavators, manipulators, and dump trucks. The director of Kazan Thermal Networks, Askhat Shakhanov, has reported to the Mayor that work is 90% complete. Specialists have removed old pipes and installed new ones, insulated joints, and will soon fill the network with sand. They will also improve the area around the site.

“We aim to improve the reliability of the municipal economy,”- said Ilsur Metshin. Work on replacing pipes at the intersection of Vosstaniya and Vasilchenko streets is scheduled to be completed in two weeks in order to prepare for the heating season, which begins when the average daily temperature exceeds 8 degrees Celsius for five consecutive days. Last year, the heating season began on October 5.
