Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of reconstruction work of the Chulpan cultural center

After the reconstruction the number of students in the center will double.

The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the reconstruction of the Chulpan cultural center today. After completion of all works, the number of students will double, and the renovated building will become a cultural center for 300 thousand citizens of the Privolzhsky, Sovetsky and Vakhitovsky districts.

“The design should underline the character of the team, our capital, and citizens”

The building located on Pobedy Ave, 48A, was built in 1992 as a movie theater. Three years later, it was transformed into a cultural center. From the very beginning, the facility became a rehearsal base for the Kazan dance ensemble. In April 2019, all classes were stopped due to the beginning of a large-scale reconstruction.

Rustem Khasanov, Director of the contractor organization Restovrator LLC, said that only the name and part of the layout of the old building will remain here. He reported to the head of the city that today the front is ready for painting, granite has been ordered for external finishing. The construction of utilities has been completed, and about 70% of the area is ready for finishing. The Mayor was shown various options for finishing materials.

So, the front of the building will be made in a combination of different granite colors. It was decided to make bas-reliefs with national decoration on the side walls. For information, the Mayor of Kazan instructed to add folk elements to the interior of the building and design of the front and entrance groups.

As for the hall, it will be made in green color with the addition of national ornaments. The stage was expanded and specialists were invited to install special equipment here.

The capacity of the facility will double after reconstruction

The Kazan dance ensemble hopes for various cultural activities in the center. Chulpan Zakirova, Artistic Director, people's artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, said that the Kazan Philharmonic, the famous orchestra of folk instruments Kazan Nury, as well as about 30 soloists-vocalists will be based in the center.

Earlier, the cultural center had only 2 rehearsal rooms, so only 350 people could study here. But now the building will have 4 rehearsal rooms. Thus, after the reconstruction, the capacity of the institution will double.

The territory adjacent to the cultural center will be improved

Ilsur Metshin noted that special attention will be paid to landscaping. “We will not just return the cultural center to the citizens of the district, but also give them an improved public space”, - he assured.

“I am sincerely grateful to the leadership of our republic, President Rustam Minnikhanov, that in such a tense time, the presidential programs for the reconstruction of cultural centers are being continued, - I.Metshin said. – It is very important that our industrial companies continue to operate. We thank them very much, because we can use their taxes to renovate such venues and give them to our citizens and visitors of the capital. This cultural center corresponds the high standards of the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, the city of Kazan”.
