The leaders of the world organization discussed the priorities of work in the near future.
Yesterday, a meeting of the Presidency of the world organization United Cities and Local Governments was held in videoconference mode. The Mayor of Kazan, President of the UN Advisory Committee of Local Authorities (UNACLA), President of the Eurasia section of the UCLG Ilsur Metshin took part in the meeting.
President of UCLG, Mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse, Mayor of Konya Ugur Ibrahim Altay, Co-President of UCLG, Chairman of UCLG Standing Committee on Gender Equality, President of the Regional Council of Nouakchott Region Fatimetou Abdel Malik, Co-President of UCLG, President of the South African Local Government Association of Bekhe Stofile and others took part in the meeting.
The participants discussed priorities of work for the near future, upcoming events this year, as well as current urban issues, including climate change. In the further work of the UCLG, the Mayor of Kazan proposed to focus on the exchange of best practices that lead to optimal efficiency.
Ilsur Metshin noted that it is important to engage young people in solving the issues that municipalities face.
As the Mayor of Kazan noted, the ideas and experience exchanged by the participants of the event will determine the scope of work in 2023 and will allow to develop in difficult times.
