<p> On 17-21 January, 49 mm of snow fell in Kazan, or 106% of the monthly norm, and 159% for the whole of January. All the forces of urban improvement enterprises were involved in the elimination of the consequences. The collapse was prevented thanks to the road services, whose work was called heroic by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. In his opinion, their round-the-clock work prevented a complete traffic stop in the city. </p> <p> “Separate words of gratitude to our road services. It was truly a heroic effort. The drivers worked around the clock, thanks to their efforts it was possible to prevent a complete traffic stop in the city. We will not clean up the consequences of the ranging elements in one day, but I want to assure residents that everything possible is being done to eliminate them. The collapse has not been allowed, the city continues to live and work,”- Ilsur Metshin stressed. </p> <p> The Mayor thanked the citizens who followed to the requests of the Executive Committee and did not use personal vehicles. For their convenience, the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Metroelectrotrans has increased the number of trains in the metro. The Mayor also expressed gratitude to all those who came out to clean yards, school territories and kindergartens. </p> <p> “We have seen your work. It was unity around the difficulties that nature periodically presents to us. Where there are close–knit good-neighborly relations, there is, of course, a completely different result,”- the Mayor said. </p> <p> For reference, the Buran plan was announced in Kazan last Wednesday. “At the beginning of the week, for two days, we cleaned the city and did a good job by Thursday, but on Friday nature generously poured us a monthly snowfall,”- Ilsur Metshin said. During the period of abnormal snowfall, the main highways, roads of the first, second and third categories were primarily cleared of snow. To date, all snow melting points of the city are full, the Mayor noted. </p> <p> “600 thousand tons of snow have been removed from the streets of the city. If we also count the amount of accumulated snow along the roadsides, and we have a narrowing of the roadway along all major highways, then the record will not take long to wait. The cleaning area is 23 million square meters. During the snowy winters last year and the year before, we moved at least 900 thousand tons,”- the head of the city noted. </p>
