The construction of U-turn loop on Gorkovskoye Highway along Frunze Street is 70% completed, and the highway is planned to be fully opened in November
The construction of one of the three U-turn loops on Gorkovskoye Highway along Frunze Street has been completed by 70%. In the first half of the facility, the work has been completed. The entire reconstruction of the highway is planned to be completed by November. In total, five aboveground and three underground pedestrian crossings will be built on the no-lights road, one underpass will be reconstructed, three U-turn loops, one tunnel and one overpass will be built. Today, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of work at the Gorkovskoye Highway.
The head of the city noted that the reconstruction of the Gorkovskoye Highway in the section with a length of 11.5 km was planned out for years to come, taking into account the growth of the city. The first project in the republic, providing for the construction of a three-level interchange, will serve as an example for road construction in the future.
“We not only reconstruct roads, but introduce new standards of urban highways. Among other things, we are building a three–level interchange on Gorkovskoye Highway - this is the first project being implemented in Tatarstan. The highway will be without traffic lights, the construction of U–turn loops, sidewalks and bike paths, all for the comfort and safety of drivers and pedestrians,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
“We are consistently reconstructing roads at the entrances to Kazan, while the Gorkovskoye Highway is a special project. This is the road to our new neighborhood Salavat Kupere, and the departure route on the M7, as well as the transit route. This is the way home to Yudino, Vasilevo, and, of course, to a huge number of suburban areas. Therefore, everyone is looking forward to the implementation of this project. We started the reconstruction in 2022, and the facility will be fully ready in November,”- he noted.
According to Igor Kulyazhev, Deputy head of the Executive Committee, construction on the first section of the U-turn loop along Frunze Street has been fully completed. The finishing work on the retaining walls with a textured surface has been completed. The second part of the road is planned to be commissioned in September.
The construction of a three-level interchange is almost completed. The possibility of launching a traffic in a test mode is now being considered.
Due to the expansion of the highway from four to six lanes, car traffic will double, and about 140 thousand residents of the Kirovsky district, Salavat Kupere, Zalesny and Yudino will be able to feel the improvements. Upon completion of the work, the capacity of the 11.5-kilometer section of the road from the M7 highway to Muzykalnaya Street will almost double to 11,000 cars per hour.
Currently, the construction and repair of roads, sidewalks, an overpass, outdoor storm sewer networks, as well as installation of noise shields, is underway.
