Ilsur Metshin: “Human resources transformation and effective work with people is our priority”

The Mayor of the city spoke at the first business forum “Human resources are key”

Today the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin spoke at the first business forum “Human resources are key”, which was organized on his initiative. More than 300 participants – heads of industrial enterprises, business representatives, the leadership of universities and colleges, as well as representatives of other cities and regions of the country gathered at the Kazan City Hall to discuss employment issues.

“I sincerely thank everyone who came to the forum and start a dialogue about human resources at a new level, because for me, as mayor, this is not an idle question. This is one of the priorities of our development,”- Ilsur Metshin addressed the participants.

He noted that more than 30 thousand people move to Kazan every year, 15 thousand of them are students. “It would seem, on the one hand, the record low indicator for the unemployment rate of 0.38% is good for us. However, we feel anxious. According to various estimates, there are up to 30 thousand vacancies in our city. According to our partners from HeadHunter, there are less than four job seekers per vacancy,”- said the Mayor of Kazan.

He separately focused on large and medium-sized industrial enterprises, which employ 210 thousand Kazan residents.

“I regularly visit Kazan enterprises, get acquainted with their activities and always pay attention to human resources management. I am sincerely proud that in our city there are wonderful examples of enterprises that have made taking care of a person a priority. So, under the wing of a big partner – SIBUR company, Kazanorgsintez plant has been seriously updated in a very short period. Another worthy and truly inspiring example is the Danaflex plant, which over 20 years of successful work has become an international leader in the production of flexible packaging,"- the head of the city noted.

He spoke about the work of the Kazan Mayor’s Office to attract effective and qualified staff. New HR practices are being introduced, applicants are motivated by the opportunity to influence the development of the city and benefit people.

In his speech, Ilsur Metshin also drew special attention to the work with the universities of the city. In his opinion, new practices are needed – employers should be included in the learning process and be open to partnership with universities, organize internships and actively participate in the transformation of educational processes.
