The heads of the cities plan to exchange experience and implement joint projects in the development of public spaces and tourism.
The mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin met with the akim of Nur-Sultan Altay Kulginov. The meeting was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, where the VIII UNWTO Global summit on urban tourism "Smart cities, smart destinations" is being held these days. The heads of the cities discussed the possibilities of further cooperation and signed a joint communique following the summit.
During the meeting, the head of the capital of Tatarstan and akim of Nur-Sultan discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation in social and economic development, as well as the work of the world organization "United cities and local governments".
The akim of Nur-Sultan Altay Kulginov noted that one of the important achievements of Kazan is the active development of the public spaces. The delegation from Kazakhstan will be able to learn useful experience of Kazan in this area during the Congress World Urban Parks-2019, which will be held in the capital of Tatarstan on October 18 -20, 2019.
At conclusion of the meeting Ilsur Metshin and Altay Kulginov signed a joint communique on the results of the VIII UNWTO Global summit on urban tourism "Smart cities, smart destinations". The document provides for the cooperation in the development of tourism, in particular-joint cultural events.
In addition, during the official visit to the capital of Kazakhstan, the mayor of Kazan, together with the heads of other cities who came to Nur Sultan for the summit, visited the Opera and ballet theater "Astana Opera". After that, the forum participants planted trees in the Botanical garden of Nur-Sultan.
Ilsur Metshin also visited the international IT-standards technopark Astana Hub. This technopark offers conditions for the free development of Kazakh and foreign technology companies. Today Astana Hub is a priority project of the digital modernization of the country. The mayor of Kazan highly appreciated the possibilities of the modern technopark. The head of the capital of Tatarstan also got acquainted with the infrastructure and construction of the new residential complex Crocus City. The project is implemented by BI Group-the largest investment and construction holding in Kazakhstan.
