I.Metshin: “Thermal energy provision should outpace construction”

By the end of the year, the Azino district boiler house will introduce the third hot water boiler, which will allow increasing the production of thermal energy in this area by a third.

In the Azino district boiler house of JSC Tatenergo by the end of 2021, it is planned to put into operation a new, third in a row, hot water boiler. This is due to a boom in the construction of residential buildings and social facilities in the area. The introduction of the boiler will increase the production of thermal energy in this area by a third. Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the progress of work in the boiler house.

“The most important work of the urban economy system is to provide heat to the residential buildings, enterprises, and social facilities. Especially now, when abnormal cold weather is coming. The Azino boiler house is quite new. However, Kazan is rapidly developing. We annually introduce about a million square meters of housing. We plan to increase this number and, accordingly, the infrastructure. The provision of thermal energy should outpace the construction. Therefore, in the coming years, we will introduce a new boiler, which will allow us to increase the consumption of thermal energy in this area by a third. Construction is going according to plan, and by the end of the year we will be able to increase the capacity of the boiler house by more than 100 Gcal/h”, - Ilsur Metshin said during the visit.

The Azino district boiler house of JSC Tatenergo was put into operation in 1987 with the completion of the construction of the first hot water boiler. In 1994, due to the increase in heating loads, a second boiler was installed. To date, the total heat capacity of the boiler house is 360 Gcal / h.

In preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2020, the gas pipeline at the boiler house was upgraded, the pressing equipment of heating pumps and gas-burning devices of two boilers was replaced, and the power supply schemes were renovated.

From the Azino boiler house a heat supply is received by the neighborhood Azino-1 and Azino-2, where about 160 thousand people live. In total, the boiler house provides heat to 617 facilities, including 464 social facilities: 393 residential buildings, 15 schools, 44 kindergartens, 12 healthcare institutions.

In addition, it is planned to introduce 1.7 million sq. m. of housing and social facilities for 60 thousand residents in the heat supply zone of the Azino boiler house. It is expected that by 2025, the heat load here will increase by 106.42 Gcal / h. The introduction of a third hot-water boiler will allow providing new facilities with thermal energy. It is planned to be put into operation at the end of this year.

As of today, the project is completed and undergone state expertise. The boiler house has already been supplied with a hot water boiler, heating pumps, electric power equipment, a reserve fuel tank, and water treatment facilities. The work was completed by 24%.

Presently, JSC Tatenergo provides heat to almost all residential buildings in Kazan – 6.2 million Gcal/year is produced here. JSC Kazenergo produces more than 2 million Gcal / year. Less than 1% of the total heat balance in the city is provided by 50 boiler houses.
