I. Metshin: «Sealants and silicones produced in Kazan successfully address import substitution issues»

<p> In Kazan, small and medium-sized businesses continue to strengthen their positions: presently, 86,300 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been registered in the capital of Tatarstan. The total share of SMEs in the municipal economy is 42.5%. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the Kazan Low–Tonnage Chemical Plant. The company is one of the country's largest manufacturers of car sealants. </p> <p> In 2025, the number of small and medium–sized businesses in Kazan increased to 86,290, which is 3% more compared to 2024. The share of SMEs in the gross territorial product of Kazan was 42.5%. As many as 430,000 people are employed in this sector – in fact, one in three residents of the city. Deputy Head of the Executive Committee Ildar Shakirov reported these data to Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin during a visit to the Kazan Low-Tonnage Chemical Plant. </p> <p> The Mayor noted that visits to regular small and medium-sized businesses allow assessing the state of the urban economy. </p> <p> «It is crucial for us to be in constant dialogue with representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, to understand their current state. Low–tonnage chemicals are one of the key segments of our economy. The city has a strong petrochemical school, and today graduates of Kazan National Research Technological University and Kazan Federal University successfully work at such enterprises. We visited a production facility that is an excellent example of the development of low-tonnage chemicals. Scientific developments find applications here: the same sealants and silicones produced in Kazan successfully address import substitution issues, which is extremely important for our market», – said Ilsur Metshin. </p> <p> During the visit, the Mayor inspected the scientific and technical base of the plant, visited the production laboratory, production facilities of pre-polymers, oligoesters, silicone compounds and sealants. </p>
