(KZN.RU, April 10). Kazan has 12 streets with “space” names, they are located in different parts of the city. On the eve of the Day of Cosmonautics, the portal KZN.RU marked on the map streets named after the Soviet founders of aviation and cosmonautics.
Thus, the Moskovsky district has Gagarin Street, named after the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Until 1961, the street was called the 11th Soyuznaya.
The name of Academician Korolev, one of the founders of the Soviet rocket-space technology, belongs to the street in Uritsky Settlement, the Moskovsky district, where the family of the Soviet designer lived. And the street in the Sovetsky district of Kazan was named after his friend Valentin Glushko, a scientist and designer of the Soviet rocket engine building. During the Great Patriotic War, Sergey Korolev and Valentin Glushko worked in Kazan in the design office of the prison type.
Also, the name of Sergei Komarov, a pilot-cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, and the commander of the world's first spacecraft, was immortalized in the street name in the Sovetsky district of Kazan.
Another street in Kazan was named after Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, a scientist, the founder of theoretical cosmonautics, the inventor in the field of aeronautics and rocket dynamics, the author of numerous scientific papers. It is located in Novo-Karavaevo, the Aviastroitelny district.
