The president of the foundation “Life Line” reported this at the forum “Good Kazan”.
(KZN.RU, November 30, Ksenia Shvetsova). Kazan showed the best result among the regions in the action “Chya-to Zhizn Uzhe ne Meloch” (Rus. “Every life is important”), collecting 1.5 million rubles, said Faina Zakharova, the president of the foundation “Life Line”, at the forum “Good Kazan”. This is not the only example of Kazan’s cooperation with the foundation. The Children's Republican Clinical Hospital became the first platform where the charitable foundation “Life Line” began to provide not only targeted assistance, but also finance the purchase of modern equipment for performing complex surgeries. Together with the medical university, the foundation is engaged in research.
The charitable foundation “Life Line” for the rescue of seriously ill children is a Russian non-profit organization established in 2004 in Moscow. Next year, the foundation will celebrate its 15th anniversary. “This is a period of serious changes, because in 15 years we have received a lot of experience. This is a kind of frontier for us, a serious decision on where to go next”, shared F. Zakharova and added that during its existence, the foundation has helped more than 5950 children.
Throughout its existence, not only targeted assistance, but also the so-called “collective targeted assistance” was of particular importance to the fund. For example, in providing medical facilities with new equipment. According to F. Zakharova, the first such site for the “Life Line” was the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital. “In this hospital, we help not only targeted, but also finance the purchase of the latest equipment, support and conduct research. This was our first such experience”, said the speaker.
Over the past 14 years, the foundation has managed to make a huge contribution to the development of medicine. Thus, in 2004, practically no endovascular operations were performed on either adults or children in Russia; there were no certified endovascular cardiac surgeons in hospitals. Thanks to the support of the “Life Line”, regular master classes, training organizations, doctors from all regions were able to acquire the skills of endovascular cardiac surgeons today. “In 2016, we realized that our task was fully completed. Requests decreased, we felt that financial support for this particular topic was over”, said the director. Then the organization took up another, equally important project: “Artificial lung ventilation”. “The task was set to make sure that children who are in hospitals on artificial lung ventilation are passed home so that children live with their parents. This is a very difficult question. We could not manage by ourselves, the state also could not manage without us”. The “Life Line”, according to the speaker, appeared as a more flexible organization with the ability to raise funds faster and became a financial partner for the state. Today, the fund works in this direction in 17 regions, allocates 130 million rubles for these purposes. “We agreed that we buy a device for ventilation of the lungs and consumables during the year, and then local authorities buy consumables”, said F. Zakharova.
The foundation is developing a vascular prosthesis of biodegradable (self-absorbable) materials with Kazan Medical University.
The Foundation “Life Line” helps the participants of the festival “Good Wave”. Now the foundation is helping Maksim Sorokin with rehabilitation, he was one of the winners of the qualifying round of the festival “Good Wave”.
