(KZN.RU, February 26). Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Kazan Executive Committee, instructed to strengthen work with the population on the eve of possible flooding. As he said, it is necessary to remind inhabitants how to be prepared for a high water and how to behave in case of flooding of the house.

At the same time, it is necessary to work on clearing the channels of small rivers, dams, and hydrological structures. “From year to year, there are the same problem places: lowlands, coastal areas in the private sector. The main work lies with the districts’ administrations”, marked D. Kalinkin.

According to the heads of districts’ administrations, all necessary work is carried out. In addition, the round-the-clock duty of responsible employees will be organized and the interaction with operational services will be ensured.

“Taking into account the experience of the past years, we strongly recommend that residents living in areas of possible flooding ensure their property and buildings, release attics in private houses in order to move stocks from basements, and also take care of personal rubber inflatable boats”, said Ferdinand Timurkhanov, the head of the Civil Protection Directorate.

He also noted that it is necessary to clarify the number of single elderly people living alone, preschool and disabled children, and also to convince residents of problem areas to create stocks of food, water, and essential medicines for at least three days.

The head of the Executive Committee urged once again to remind the owners of their obligation to export snow and not to drop it into the next ravines. Ferdinand Timurkhanov noted that there are artificial dams because of snow that residents store from roads, driveways, and yards. The residents of Zarechnaya Street and entrepreneurs put snow in the river from the territory of trading and storage facilities along the Mamadyshsky Tract. “The bridges across the Vertlevka River are all low-water. The river passes through the lowest place of Kostantinovka settlement. And if the snow melts fast, not just the bridges will go under the water. There will also be a real danger of flooding the entire low-lying part of the housing block”, said the head of the Civil Protection Department.

In general, the emergence of a complex flooding situation in residential areas, through which small rivers flow, is possible with a sudden increase in temperature in the city. 11 points of temporary accommodation have been identified in the city, the equipment, boats, and water-pumping mechanisms of the search and rescue team of Kazan have been prepared. Mobile groups are identified in each district of the city, staffed with pumps, equipment, and people to respond promptly to possible emergency situations.
