D. Kalinkin: “Well-equipped beaches will pull people from unauthorized swimming places”

<p> (KZN.RU, September 3, Ksenia Shvetsova). No accidents have been registered on the municipal beaches of Kazan for the past swimming season, which started in Kazan on June 1. At the same time, there are drowned in forbidden places for swimming. The development of infrastructure and improvement of urban beaches will attract citizens fr om unauthorized places of swimming and enhance their safety, said Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee, at the Business Monday. </p> <p> The head of the Executive Committee noted that this year the subject of beach recreation was given a new impetus to development due to the republican program on improvement of beaches adopted by the President of the RT. “This is important because beaches are the public spaces that require attention and investment as well. But most importantly, equipped beaches with a thoughtful recreation infrastructure will attract people from unauthorized swimming places. So it is also the prevention of safety along with the improvement”, said D. Kalinkin. </p> <p> Next year, it is planned to increase the number of recreation places near the water. For example, the lakes of Nizhny and Sredny Kaban, Chebaksa Lake, near the Family Center “Kazan”, and beyond the River Port. Also, it is planned to organize additional recreation places near the water for people with low mobility, improve the infrastructure of beaches and recreation areas, and create children's pools. </p> <p> The main results of the past swimming season were reported by Ferdinand Timurkhanov, the head of the Civil Protection Directorate. He recalled that this year there were municipal beaches “Lokomotiv”, “Nizhnee Zarechie”, “Glubokoe Lake”, “Komsomolskoe Lake”, and three places for mass recreation at the water “Izumrudnoe Lake”, “Lebyazhie”, and a lake in the Pobedy Park. Preparation of these beaches for the swimming season was carried out for several months. Divers cleared more than 8 thousand square meters of beaches, repairs were carried out in the premises of rescue stations and medical wings, beaches were landscaped, and all rescuers received special training. In total, 60 rescuers were involved in the water bodies. In addition, laboratory analysis of water and soil was regularly carried out on municipal beaches. As a result, the sanctioned beaches managed to avoid casualties and accidents, rescuers dragged 10 people out of the water, 4 of them children, and first aid was provided for 264 vacationers. </p> <p> Officers of the Civil Protection Directorate exposed 65 banners in unequipped and dangerous places for swimming, but it still did not stop some residents from violating safety rules. "Every year we remind the population that swimming is allowed only in equipped places, wh ere rescuers are on duty at beaches and in places of mass recreation of the population. Also, that alcohol and rest on the water are incompatible things. But, nevertheless, there were some emergencies in unauthorized places, unfortunately”, said F. Timurkhanov. He added that 9 people drowned during the swimming season, including 1 child. All of them swam in forbidden places. </p>
