The topical issues of youth policy were discussed at the XXXIII session of the Kazan City Duma.
(KZN.RU, April 18, Alena Miroshnichenko). 180 thousand people belonging to working youth live in Kazan. Active work with its representatives is carried out in the 16 largest enterprises of the city, the total number of activists is about 1000 people. In order to popularize and revitalize the prestige of working professions among young people, the Committee on Children and Youth Affairs of Kazan annually holds the Best in Profession competition for millers and turners, electric welders, process engineers, and others. Airat Faizov, the chairman of the Committee, noted at the XXXIII session of the Kazan City Duma that this is relevant in the context of the upcoming world championship WorldSkills and in general.
Kazan attracts a lot of young people from different regions of Russia and other countries of the world. However, there remains a high percentage of those who, after school or university, prefer to move to the capital or leave the country altogether. Among the reasons for such a migration, A. Faizov noted difficulties in employing graduates, an insufficient level of comfort in the urban environment and social infrastructure. “There are several creative spaces in the city, but they are not enough. Redesigning, supporting and expanding these sites is the most important direction in the development of the youth policy infrastructure. These sites are the place for active, creative, talented, and ideological youth, which later form the attractive image of the city”, said the speaker.
“Young people are the main resource for the development of the city, it is more valuable than oil or money. This resource should be protected and all conditions should be created for its preservation, enhancement and growth of its quality”, said A. Faizov. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, supported him by noting that this task is confronting all the authorities, heads of educational institutions, professional enterprises and business structures. “We must do everything so that graduates of Kazan schools and universities would like to live, study and work in our city”, concluded the Mayor.
