May 9: Kazan celebrates the Victory

The main event of the day will be the Victory Parade on the Millennium Square.

(KZN.RU, May 9). Today is the Victory Day. Kazan solemnly celebrates the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. An extensive program of events awaits Kazan citizens and guests of the city in honor of the holiday.

At 8 am, a traditional track and field relay race will be held in memory of Lieutenant Yuri Krasikov in Yudino. At the same time, solemn laying of wreaths and flowers with the participation of veterans, the leadership of the RT and Kazan will take place in the military burial places in Arskoe and Arkhangelskoe cemeteries. At 9 am, the garland and flowers will be laid on the Eternal Flame and the monument to Mothers and Widows in the Pobedy Park.

Fr om 10 am to 5 pm, everyone will be able to write a letter to the front-line soldiers with wishes and thanks in the Museum of the History of Statehood of Tatarstan.

At 11 am, the “Tatarkino” invites guests to the Aksenov Square for the festive program “Salute of Victory”. Artistic ensembles with songs and dances of the war years will perform on the stage, historical competitions with prizes will be organized. The event will end with a free screening of the film “Three Days to Spring” at the cinema “Mir”.

The main square of the celebration will be the Millennium Square. At 9.45 am, the event will open with a large theatrical prolog with the participation of about 2 thousand artists. Here the passage of the troops of the Kazan garrison will take place, in which about 2 thousand servicemen and pupils of the cadet classes and the military service will take part. At the end of the festive marching, the passage of mechanized military equipment will take place (14 units).

This year, military technology including the caterpillar will be used for the first time: the T-34 tank, the IS-3 tank, and the legendary BM-13 Katyusha. At the end of the show, the guests of the holiday will have a two-hour festive concert with the participation of the masters of the arts of the RT and the creative groups of the city at 11 am.

An exposition of a military-patriotic exhibition is planned on the Millennium Square, within which modern models of equipment will be presented.

From 10 am, the folk festivities in the Pobedy Park will begin, which will last until 8 pm. The work of various thematic sites will be organized on this day. The festival “The Heirs of Victory” with the participation of 600 representatives from 32 regions of Russia will take place on the central stage of the park. A traditional festival of children's brass bands “Fanfares of the Victory” with 250 participants will also be held there, and veteran choirs will perform on the festive stage of the park from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Traditionally, Kazan will join the action “Immortal Regiment”, it will take place on the route of last year. The procession will be gathered at 1 pm. The column will be formed from the intersection of the streets K. Marx and Gorky near the Agrarian University and move to the Millennium Square. The all-Russian start of the action is planned at 3 pm. Last year, more than 120 thousand people took part in the march of the “Immortal Regiment” in Kazan.

At 5 pm in the Sovetskaya Square, the women's jazz orchestra “Fantasy” and the creative groups of the cultural center “Saidash” will present a festive concert for veterans, wh ere the songs of the war years will be performed.

In the evening from 8 pm, citizens and guests of the city can attend the concert.

Solemn events will continue until 10 pm and end with a festive salute, which will be launched from the water area of the Kazanka River.
