The results of children theater festival “Generation Next” will be summed up in Kazan on May 20

3 out of the 29 theater groups have reached the final.

The final stage of the I Children Festival of the Republican Theater Festival “Generation Next” will be held from 18 to 20 of May at the Kazan Theater of Young Spectator. The details and features of the competition were told today at the press conference at the Ministry of Culture of the RT.

In total, 29 theater groups took part in the festival. More than 600 young artists from six cities of the republic are involved. In total, they presented 30 performances, among which were a mono-performance, a performance with an orchestra, an original play, musical performances, performances based on folk works, as well as performances in Tatar.

Aigul Gornysheva, the director of Kazan Theater of Young Spectator, said that the festival consists of three stages. At the first stage, the creative teams sent the videos of their performances to the experts for the preview. At the second stage, 10 best nominee performances were selected. Today, the jury selected three laureates who will gather in Kazan for the internal stage on May 18-19. For the finalists, they prepared a tour, master classes on stage speech and acting skills, meetings with directors who will help them to adapt their performances for the big stage.

On May 20, the children will present their performances on the stage of the Kazan Theater of Young Spectator. Today’s poster included two performances of the Kazan groups: “My Imagination” performed by students of the school №5 and “The Little Chicken” from the children's ecological theater “Raduga”, as well as the play “Don Quixote” from the theater-studio “Domino” from Zelenodolsk.

“The leaders of various children's groups have repeatedly turned to us for methodological assistance. They were the ones who initiated the competition. It is very important and useful for children to have the opportunity to play in a performance on a professional stage, which we provide to them”, noted A. Gornysheva. Tufan Imamutdinov, the main director of the Kazan Youth Theater, also noted the fact that the festival “Generation Next” is of great importance for young artists. “This is a big step for children to a big stage with a professional light, with professional sound, decorations. We try to do everything so that the experience that the children will receive here became one of the most vivid in their lives”, he marked.

According to Irada Ayupova, the minister of Culture of the RT, participation in the festival is an opportunity for young artists to speak out and be heard. And for adults, it is the opportunity to understand the language of children and the meaning that they put into their actions, added the speaker. “Among other things, theater art has many competences that children will need in life: self-presentation, the ability to present themselves in public, to operate with a large amount of information, in particular, text. This is what they need today for personal development. But the most basic meaning of this project is to give children possibilities of performing on the big stage”, summed up the Minister of Culture of the RT.
