In Tatarstan, 157 residents are over 100 years old

The oldest man lives in Pestretsy, and the oldest woman lives in Zainsk.

More than 914 thousand people over the working age live in Tatarstan – about 24% of the population. One hundred and fifty-seven of them are over 100 years old. The oldest man, who is 102 years old, lives in Pestretsy, and the oldest woman, who turned 107, lives in Zainsk. This was announced by Tatarstan Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Services Elmira Zaripova at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan.

49, 841 pensioners over 80 years old live in Kazan. Over the past five years, the number of citizens of this age category has increased by more than 9 thousand. There are also 49 people in the city who turn 100 or more this year, 44 of them are women, 5 are men.

According to the minister, the average amount of the insurance old-age pension in the republic is above 19 thousand rubles. “Those elderly people of retirement age whose income is below subsistence line of a pensioner, less than 10,175 rubles, receive a federal supplement to the level of the subsistence minimum of a pensioner. Currently, more than 62 thousand people receive it in the republic”, - Elmira Zaripova noted.

The amount of funds allocated from the republican budget to support pensioners increases annually. “The most numerous categories among the recipients of republican privilege are labour veterans, pensioners who do not belong to either federal or regional beneficiaries, home front workers, disabled people, participants of the Great Patriotic War”, - the minister added.

Elmira Zaripova also announced the launch of a new project – residents will be informed in Kazan public transport on helping lonely elderly people. “If you see that there is a lonely elderly person in your apartment building or anywhere else, then, it is necessary to inform the social service of the district. On October, we are launching a project together with Kazan transport enterprise to inform the residents”, - she said.
