The action “Health Ski Day” took place in the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky forest

15 wards of the Kazan boarding school of E. Lastochkina went along the ski track.

(KZN.RU, January 16, Alina Berezhnaya). Today, the action “Health Ski Day” for children with disabilities took place in the Gorkinsko-Ometievsky forest. 15 wards of the Kazan boarding school of E. Lastochkina became participants of the ski race.

The action for promoting ski racing has been held in Kazan since the beginning of December. During this time, about 100 children with disabilities put on the skis. During the ride, the children are accompanied by coaches, professional athletes. Before the race at a distance of 500 m, experienced coaches help children learn the techniques of both classic and skating style. “Such children need to be developed. They need the opportunity to express themselves in sports. It's pleasing to see how their eyes are lit when they go to the track. Among them, there are those who are doing great. Perhaps, they will become professional athletes”, said Ilvar Mingaleev, an athlete of the Federation of Ski Racing and Biathlon of the RT.

The action not just teaches children to ski, but also makes their long-standing dreams come true. Thus, Diana Tsyra, a 14-year-old ward of the boarding school of E. Lastochkina, likes to watch ski racing competitions on TV, but she never tried to ski herself. “I dreamed of a walk through the winter forest. I think that it is very beautiful, you can improve your health and enjoy the view around at the same time. Now I will skate more often, there is nothing difficult about it, the main thing is to master the technique”, Diana shared her impressions.

Not all the young athletes are first-timers on the track. For example, Eduard Davletbaev got his first ski fr om his grandmother on New Year’s Eve 5 years ago. Since then, the young man goes on a ski track every winter. “I love to ski on difficult tracks where I can improve my skills. When I’m skiing, I get incredible pleasure and energy”, said Eduard, who does swimming in addition to skiing.

The skiing for children with disabilities will last until spring. In March, the campaign will end with major competitions, wh ere the best young athletes will be selected.

The organizers of the action plan to further develop skiing among children with disabilities in Kazan. Alina Karimova, the head of the physical culture and sports department of the Sovetsky district of Kazan, said that it is planned to open a ski race office based on the Republican youth sports and adaptive school. “We already had discussions with the school management. We understand each other and have the same desire. I believe, thanks to our sporting action, we will give a start to the ski racing department”, said Alina Karimova.
