120 people will take part in the Games of the Special Olympiad in Unified-football in Kazan

People with intellectual disabilities will fight side by side with ordinary athletes.

(KZN.RU, February 15). The All-Russian Olympics of the special Olympiad in Unified-football will be held in Kazan fr om 16 to 20 of February. About 120 athletes fr om Vladimir, St. Petersburg, Smolensk, and the capital of Tatarstan will participate in competitions on the basis of the football and track and field arena of the Central Stadium.

The format of unified-contests suggests that people with intellectual disabilities play along with ordinary athletes. The purpose of such competitions is to help them to take an active part in the life of society.

It was decided to dedicate the Games to the 50th anniversary of the World Olympic Movement and to hold it at the same stadium wh ere the first Games for athletes with intellectual disabilities started half a century ago. Competitions will be held on 17, 18 and 19 of February from 11 am to 2 pm, and also at 12.30 pm on 17 February. The rest of the days an excursion around Kazan will be organized for the athletes.

The winning team will travel to Chicago wh ere will represent the Special Olympics of Russia at the World Unified-Football Tournament from 17 to 21 of July, reports the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of RT.
