10 young Kazan designers are fighting for reaching the final of the championship Kazan Fashion Skills-2019

The final stage of the competition will be held from 20 to 22 of April at the Kazan College of Technology and Design.

(KZN.RU, April 17, Alina Berezhnaya). On April 20, the final of the championship Kazan Fashion Skills-2019 starts in the capital of Tatarstan. Now, 16 semi-finalists are fighting for entering the final stage of the competition, 10 of them are Kazan designers. Emil Gubaidullin, the project manager WorldSkills Kazan 2019, told about this today at the press conference in the IA “Tatar-inform”.

He reminded that this year is very important for Tatarstan. In May, Kazan will host the WorldSkills National Championship, and in August the capital of the republic will host the 45th World Championship WorldSkills Kazan 2019. Young professionals from more than 60 countries will take part in it. On the eve of these events, the championship of young designers Kazan Fashion Skills-2019 by the standards of WorldSkills Russia takes place in the capital of the RT for the first time.

According to E. Gubaidullin, 63 young designers from 17 cities of the country have applied for participation in the Kazan Fashion Skills championship. Under the terms of the championship, they had to create sketches of the autumn collection of clothes. After examining the submissions, the jury selected 16 semifinalists, 10 of whom are designers from Kazan. Competitors need to create and implement one outfit from their collection using fabrics provided by a particular brand. The semifinalists will present the results of their work to the jury on April 20.

Eight best participants of the championship will get to the finals, which will be held at the Kazan College of Technology and Design. The remaining contestants will be able to compete for the People Choice award during the online voting. Ildar Sharafeev, a certified expert of the Young Professionals movement of WorldSkills Russia on the competence of Fashion Technology, said that the criteria for evaluating the work comply with WorldSkills Russia standards. The jury evaluates fashionable design, technical drawing, design of models, cutting and sewing technology. “We have made the main mark on fashionable design. But, of course, we will take into account the sewing when evaluating”, explained Ildar Sharafeev.

The winner of the championship will receive not only a cash prize of 100 thousand rubles, but also a paid internship for a period of 1 month with the possibility of subsequent employment in a company representing one of the fashionable brands of women's clothing. Also, the best collections will be launched into mass production.

“This is a special championship for us, because it shows how the interaction between young professionals, educational institutions and business representatives should be built”, said E. Gubaidullin. According to him, the championship can become permanent.
