In Kazan, 7 thousand residents from emergency houses received new apartments

To date, there are as many as 106 emergency houses in the city

In Kazan, the number of emergency apartment buildings increased to 106. They are subject to either demolition or reconstruction. Vasily Lysachkin, Head of the Housing Policy Department, reported this data to the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.

Iskander Giniyatullin, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee, also attended the meeting.

Since 2012, with the support of the federal and republican government, residents of 165 emergency houses have been resettled in 2,400 apartments in Kazan. In addition, from 2012 to 2025, 20 more emergency houses were resettled at the expense of the vacated municipal housing stock. About 7,000 citizens were relocated to comfortable housing, Lysachkin recalled.

The last stage of the program started in 2019 and was scheduled until 2025. During this time, it was planned to resettle those houses that were considered emergency until 2017. As a result, the resettlement was completed ahead of schedule in 2023.

The next stage of the program included the resettlement of houses recognized as emergency after January 1, 2017. However, the federal program for these terms has not been adopted yet. As many as 106 apartment buildings with 1,617 residential premises remain emergency in Kazan. According to preliminary data, more than 10 billion rubles are needed for these purposes.

For reference, the program for the resettlement of emergency housing is funded from the budgets of three levels – federal, republican and municipal. The main amount of funding is allocated from the federal budget.

Prior to the implementation of the emergency housing program in Kazan, there was a republican program for the elimination of dilapidated housing. As many as 5,500 houses were resettled from 1996 to 2005, 33 thousand families moved into comfortable housing under the program.
