<p> An honoring ceremony of the Ak Bars hockey 2011 team took place today at the Ak Bars Sports Complex. The young athletes who won the Championship of the Volga Federal District and the All-Russian Tretyak Cup were congratulated by Rustam Minnikhanov, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Deputy of the Tatarstan State Council of and three-time world champion in the Russian national team Danis Zaripov, and Konstantin Margolf, CEO of the Golden Puck Hockey League. Ak Bars hockey players became scholarship holders of the Mayor of Kazan for their sporting achievements. </p> <p> The Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the team on their win, noting the high level of skill. </p> <p> Ilsur Metshin emphasized the importance of hockey development in the republic. «Today we congratulate our guys with the victory. I want to express my gratitude to all the coaches – we have thousands of boys playing hockey. This game has become our national sport. This became possible thanks to the systematic support of our republic and Rustam Minnikhanov. Excellent conditions have been created in Kazan today: 15 ice arenas where our coaching staff train the guys. We have 660 children training at 83 hockey rinks, of which about 300 participate in the Golden Puck tournament», – said the Mayor of Kazan. </p>
