The award of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation was presented today in Moscow to the mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Kazan is recognized as the best city in Russia for the living standards. The award of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation was presented today in Moscow at the VI International forum “Growth or recession: which to expect?” to the mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. The head of the city was presented a diploma and a statuette by Mikhail Eskindarov, the rector of the University. Along with the capital of Tatarstan, such cities as Krasnodar, Irkutsk, Grozny and Vologda were awarded in different nominations.
The winners have been determined by the telephone opinion polls, which were conducted from spring to autumn in 78 cities of the country with a population of more than 250 thousand people.
Among the cities of the Volga region, Kazan has the highest points in the following indicators: satisfied with the condition of their home (68%), the work of housing and communal services (57%), comfortable life in the city (87%) and others. In total, 31 criteria were taken into account, Kazan was among the leaders in all these indicators, which allowed the capital of Tatarstan to win the main nomination of the Financial University award this year.
“Of course, it is pleasant and honorable to receive an award of this level,” Ilsur Metshin said, “I believe that much is determined by the infrastructure projects that are being implemented in the city.”
Thus, thanks to the infrastructural changes caused by the holding the Universiade in 2013, the number of small and micro enterprises increased in Kazan, as well as the volume of their products. In addition, the city managed to train a lot of specialists in demand around the world, as well as to attract a large number of tourists, the mayor said from the stage.
I. Metshin noted that in the year of the Millennium anniversary Kazan was visited by 500 thousand tourists, and today this figure has increased up to 3.2 million tourists. “The infrastructure solutions are changing the life of cities. At the same time, people also change – they begin to believe in themselves and in tomorrow,” the mayor said.
The Financial University Living Standard award was established in 2016 to encourage financial and other organizations to improve the quality of services provided to consumers, as well as city administrations to improve the living standards of the citizens. The awards traditionally take place at the plenary session of the annual international forum of the Financial University in November.
