Anyone can purchase products from local farmers, cheese-makers, bakers on Bauman Street.
(KZN.RU, May 4, Alina Berezhnaya). Today, the Easter Fair is held for the first time in Kazan on Bauman Street. Local farmers, cheese producers, bakers and craftsmen of Tatarstan offer their products to guests and residents of the capital in about 40 pavilions on the central street of the city.
A lively atmosphere reigns on Bauman Street from noon. The savory smell of cheese, fragrant buns, delicious kebabs and golden honey make tourists and citizens stop at the pavilions. Farmers tell about their products and also allow to taste it. “We are moving away from traditional varieties of cheese trying to surprise buyers. We have a lot of original products, for example, cheese with garlic, “Italian Garden” and moreover with unusual spices”, said Sergey Cherkin, a cheese maker.
At the fair, craftsmen offer handicrafts: wooden whistles, wicker baskets, pottery and horseshoes for good luck. The trade at the pavilion of the blacksmith Almaz Kazakov was especially great. The craftsman acquaints customers with the history of the products. The most popular were forged knives with a curved handle Kuyabriks. “You rarely see a knife that would be given so many names. The reason is its popularity among many nations. It received particular fame in 1552, when Ivan the Terrible forbade the forging of weapons, but people had to somehow butcher livestock. They made kuyabrik from a poker or a steel bar”, said Almaz Kazakov.
Participants of the fair offer not just buy, but also make your own unique goods. For example, those who wish can try coinage and pottery.
“It's great that such wonderful fairs are held in Kazan. There is so much unusual here, you can't buy such things in the store. I wish that there would be even more such events in the city, where you can come with your family and have fun”, Alfinur Safina, a Kazan resident, shared her impressions.
The atmosphere of the holiday is created by creative bands that perform folk songs and dances on stage.
“The agenda of this fair is to come there with the whole family to try the most interesting and tasty things”, said Daria Sannikova, the director of the Tourism Promotion Committee. “Bauman Street is the busiest part of Kazan, there are a large number of citizens and tourists. We wanted to bring a new wave of life here, I think we managed to do so. Such events will be held every season, but we will not reveal all the secrets yet”.
The fair will last until 8 pm, it will also work on May 5. You can plunge into the holiday atmosphere and buy souvenirs from 12 pm to 8 pm.
