Kazan citizens will immerse into the world of classical opera

A School of Opera Spectator and lecture meetings are organized for citizens.

(KZN.RU, January 23). Fr om 1 to 23 of February, the XXXVII International Chaliapin Festival will be held on the stage of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil. The festival is planned to hold two parallel programs: lectures on various aspects of musical theater and the educational school of the opera audience.

For the first time, a two-week project will be organized in Kazan for interested spectators wh ere they can learn about opera art. The participants of the project immerse into the world of classical opera: visiting private rehearsals and runs of the Chaliapin Festival performances (The Tsar's Bride, The Queen of Spades, Turandot, etc.), meeting with directors and conductors participating in the festival, discussions. A number of lessons will be about modern opera compositions. It is planned to attend the premiere of the newly created chamber operas of young Tatarstan authors within the framework of the “KazanOperaLab”. To participate in the “School of Opera Spectator” invited students of specialized universities and colleges, as well as all interested spectators.

The first meeting will be held on January 29. Participants will get acquainted with the program and the project curators, take part in a special tour of the backstage theater of opera and ballet.

In order to become a student of the School, you must register on the website kazanopera.timepad.ru. The selection will be carried out by request due to the limited number of places.

In addition, a lecture course on opera art will start on February 6. The first meeting dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the Kazan Opera and the 80th anniversary of the Tatar Opera Theater. It will take place at the House of Actor named after M. Salimzhanov at 6 pm.

On February 9 at 5 pm, the creative laboratory “Ugol” will discuss contemporary opera art and show videos of works created in recent years. Modern composer Elmir Nizamov will take part in the discussion of contemporary opera trends.

On February 12 at 6 pm, on the eve of the birth anniversary of Fyodor Chaliapin, Nikolay Rybinsky, a music journalist, will tell about the greatest singer of the XX century in the House of the Actor. On February 14 at 6 pm, there will be a lecture “Opera Houses and Festivals of Europe”. Alexander Laskovski, a correspondent of the London magazine “Opera Magazine”, will give the lecture. The admission to all events is free, reports the press service of the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil.

The Chaliapin International Opera Festival is the oldest Russian forum of opera art. This year, the main program of the Chaliapin Festival includes 10 performances (including the premiere of the opera “The Tsar's Bride” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov) and 2 gala concerts.
