The event on the Day of Active Residents brought together 12,000 elderly citizens of Kazan in Gorky Park today. At the main avenue of the park, they signed up for clubs and sections of the «Zhiznelub» urban project. Throughout the park, visitors of the festival willingly participated in a variety of activities, including master classes, psychological support, health checks, and sports events. An hour-long concert by creative groups of «Zhiznelub» and famous artists from Tatarstan took pleace on the main stage, featuring the performance of singer Prokhor Chaliapin. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin congratulated the participants on the holiday personally and awarded the project's activists. Ilsur Metshin noted the contribution of the older generation to the development of the city: «Kazan grew up under your caring hands and today it is not only a city we, the residents of Tatarstan, can be proud of, but also for 5 million tourists who visit us from all over Russia and abroad». He recalled the launch of a unique project called «Active Longevity Games», where elderly residents of Kazan compete in ten different sports. The Mayor then presented awards to representatives of public organizations of the Council of Veterans for their contributions to the city.
