The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visits a production base that manufactures FPV drones and other unmanned systems
The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the AIM production base that produces various unmanned systems. They are being produced for a special military operation and for civil use. The company has grown from a volunteer project into a high-tech enterprise.
«I was struck at how fast you are developing, your industry is developing. You started with simple 3D printing of components, and today you have grown to produce thousands of drones per month. Engineering is critically important for the whole country right now. It is great that young people come to this industry, become engineer and create a technological chain, it is the key to the future of our aircraft industry and the basis of our technological sovereignty», – said Ilsur Metshin.
The company was established in 2023, when a group of Kazan enthusiasts and engineers joined forces to help the front. The first step was the 3D printing of the necessary components: ammunition shanks, discharge systems, and sighting elements. During the work of the volunteer association, more than 600 thousand products were sent to the front.
Presently, the company has organized a full cycle production: from design and development to final assembly. The company produces about 1,000 ground-based and flying drones per month.
In addition, the company produces aircraft-type drones. They are made with composite materials – carbon fiber and fiberglass. Artificial intelligence algorithms, including optical navigation systems, are integrated into the devices.
The second important area is ground–based unmanned platforms. The company has developed two models of such devices, which are focused on civilian and industrial use.
Another outstanding development of the company is the Zilant interceptor drone, capable of reaching speeds of more than 350 km/h. The device can be used to intercept targets both by installing special equipment and by using the principle of physical ramming. It is a more economical alternative to traditional air defense systems.
During the meeting with Ilsur Metshin, the company's representatives outlined the key needs for further growth. Among them is the creation of a specialized testing ground, as well as assistance in logistics and the prompt transfer of products to the front. The Mayor of instructed to find a suitable facility that would be convenient and safe for engineers.
