At the meeting, chaired by Ilsur Metshin, 17 projects by architectural teams from Kazan, Moscow and St. Petersburg were considered.
Today, the Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin has chaired the first meeting to discuss the projects of the open All-Russian contest for the best design of four stations of the second metro line: “100th anniversary of the TASSR”, “Akademicheskaya”, “Zilant” and “Tulpar”.
“The future of Kazan is closely linked with the development of public transport and this is a system-wide work for us, - the Mayor stressed. - Of course, the second metro line will significantly improve the transport accessibility of the city's districts. For thousands of people, trips will become faster, more convenient, it will allow to reduce traffic on the roads and no doubt to improve life of the whole city”.
The contest started on May 2 and ended on June 5. In total, 24 applications were received from various architectural teams from Kazan, Moscow and St. Petersburg, 17 of which sent design projects. Ilsiyar Tukhvatullina, the chief architect of Kazan, noted that this is the first contest held by the Institute of City Development. “We hope that this practice will continue when developing other architectural projects in Kazan”, - she said.
During the presentations, Ilsur Metshin noted that Kazan architects also took part in the contest. “The more we attract residents to the creation of the urban environment, the higher the level of involvement, interest of people in the development and study of the history of their city,” - he noted. For example, the jury received a voluminous essay describing the design concept of the Akademicheskaya station from Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Kazan State Technological University Yevgeny Grigoriev, the Mayor added.
When developing design projects, the following criteria were taken into account: compliance with the requirements of comfort and safety for passengers, the best use of station space, a harmonious combination of the interior with the context of the surrounding space and the district, the use of modern technologies taking into account the installation of wayfinding elements.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Utilities of atarstan Vladimir Kudryashev, Director General of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise “Metroelectrotrans” Aidar Abdulkhakov, Director of the State Institution GISU RT Niyaz Sitdikov, Director General of “Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt” Adel Khusnutdinov.
