For the winter period 830 thousand tons of snow were removed from Kazan streets

<p> (KZN.RU, April 1, Ksenia Shvetsova). Since early December of last year, the capital city of Tatarstan received 213 millimetres of snow that was at 69% above normal. The road workres were removed from the streets of the city 830 thousand tons of snow, 610 special equipment units were involved in daily cleaning. Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee for External Improvement, reported about the results of the maintenance of street-road network today at the Business Monday. </p> <p> December, February and March were the 'snowiest' months for Kazan. The height of snow averaged 70 cm that was at 25% higher than annual averages at 55 cm. 610 special equipment units were involved in daily cleaning of the streets during last winter, and with weather conditions worsening up to 750 units were involved for cleaning. </p> <p> Igor Kulyazhev reported 830 thousand tons of snow were removed from Kazan streets - it was about 166 thousand dumpers. All 6 stationary snow melt centres during the winter season remained in good working order. 70% of total removed snow (570 thousand tons) was utilized here. Rest snow was removed to 5 temporary snow melt centres of snow storage which would be cleansed of mud and dust soon. </p> <p> «For today the work of snow removal is being continued, specific attention is paid to the places of possible flooding and town roads, - informed the speaker. - We used reagents and sand-salt mixture for ice road foundation. In total 80 thousand tons of the anti-icing materials were used during the winter months». </p> <p> Igor Kulyazhev also added that for today 650 road workers are employed in road enterprises. For the decision of this problem the park of road machinery of Kazan was filled up to 25 minitractors this March which already work on sidewalks, squares and in parks. As speaker noted, they would provide for the replacement of more than 300 road workers. </p>
