The overhaul will begin at the department in the Sovetsky district, which serves 8,500 people annually.
This year, under the new republican program, 10 departments of the Doverie Center for psychological assistance to children will be renovated in Kazan. The program also provides for opening of one of the largest branches in the Sovetsky district, where overhaul of empty premises will soon begin. Today, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the design project and the progress of renovation work.
“We pay great attention to the physical health of residents, but mental health is no less important. The Doverie Center is doing a lot of work in this regard. Unfortunately, the conditions in which they work are not comfortable – the Mayor said. – We are very grateful to Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Tatarstan Ministry of Youth Affairs for the unique renovation program”.
About 97 thousand young Kazan residents live in the Sovetsky district, one third of them need psychological assistance
The new department of the Doverie Center will be located in the area of more than 457.3 sq. m. in a residential building on 8 Marta Street. A few years ago, the premises were transferred to the Doverie center, but there were no funds for renovation.
In the new center, not only residents of the Sovetsky district, where there are no psychological services departments yet, but also residents of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts will be able to receive assistance. According to the director of the Doverie Center Elena Ovchinnikova, 97 thousand young Kazan citizens aged from 14 to 35 years live in the Sovetsky district, at least a third of them need psychological assistance.
“There are five colleges and four institutes in this area, where about 16 thousand students study, as well as 38 schools. Despite schools have their own psychologist, our children can get assistance anonymously, as well as by phone. As experience shows, they seek the assistance of school psychologist less often”, - explained E.Ovchinnikova.
“One thing is personal communication with a school employee, but another is anonymous support, - the Mayor agreed– Students, as a rule, do not have the opportunity to communicate with a psychologist in the universities. But we have a lot of youth, Kazan is a city of students. We must try to expand opportunities so that everyone can count on the assistance”.
Twenty-nine million rubles were allocated for the renovation of the new center, as well as the purchase of necessary equipment and furniture.
Teenagers most often face problems at school and have difficulty communicating with their parents
After the overhaul is completed, four psychologists and three youth workers will provide support to teenagers in the center.
I.Metshin inspected the premises in which, according to the project, a large hall for team work, a hall for individual work, a creative class, a sensory room will be equipped. In addition, a co-working area will be organized there, where teenagers will be able to communicate with each other.
In addition, psychological trainings will be conducted in the department for prevention of addictions, extremism and terrorism.
“It is very important that there has been a psychological assistance service in Kazan for 15 years. The program that we begin is one of the most important for the city and for the residents”, - I.Metshin noted.
