UNESCO has included the Observatory of Kazan Federal University in the World Heritage List

Work on the promotion of the site has been carried out since 2019 with the support of Mintimer Shaimiev

Astronomical observatories of Kazan Federal University are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List – now there are four Tatarstan venues in it. According to this indicator, the republic is the leader in Russia.

The work on the promotion of observatories has been carried out since 2019 with the support of the Republican Renaissance Foundation under the leadership of the State Adviser of the republic of Tatarstan - UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mintimer Shaimiev. The idea of including the Observatory named after V. Engelhardt in the UNESCO World Heritage List began in 2009, and in 2017 the initiative was supported by the Director General of the organization Irina Bokova during her visit to Tatarstan.

The nomination dossier included the suburban observatory of Kazan Federal University and the observatory located at the main building of the university, the Press Office of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan reports.
