World Aquatics ratifies world record set by Kliment Kolesnikov in Kazan

<p> The world record of Russian swimmer Kliment Kolesnikov has been ratified by the World Aquatics.<br> </p> <p> In the final of the Russian Cup in Kazan, the athlete swam a 50-meter backstroke in 23.55 seconds. Kolesnikov broke the world record of Hunter Armstrong (23.71). </p> <p> In 2022, World Aquatics suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions, but in 2023, the federation allowed swimmers from Russia and Belarus. </p> <p> The final of the Russian Swimming Cup took place in Kazan on 25-30 July, 2023. In 2020, Kliment Kolesnikov became a silver (100 m backstroke) and bronze (100 m freestyle) medalist at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The athlete also has six wins at the World and European championships. </p>
