He swam the 50-meter backstroke in 23.55 seconds in the final of the Cup of Russia
The world record of Russian swimmer Kliment Kolesnikov has been ratified by the World Aquatics.
In the final of the Russian Cup in Kazan, the athlete swam a 50-meter backstroke in 23.55 seconds. Kolesnikov broke the world record of Hunter Armstrong (23.71).
In 2022, World Aquatics suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions, but in 2023, the federation allowed swimmers from Russia and Belarus.
The final of the Russian Swimming Cup took place in Kazan on 25-30 July, 2023. In 2020, Kliment Kolesnikov became a silver (100 m backstroke) and bronze (100 m freestyle) medalist at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The athlete also has six wins at the World and European championships.
