Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of the reconstruction at one of the most challenging sites, where work is being carried out using the polymer sleeve
This year, the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal will update a record-breaking 23 kilometers of water supply and sanitation networks at 31 facilities. One of these facilities, which is currently undergoing reconstruction, is located on Albert Kamaleyev Avenue. The networks at this location have worn out by more than 70% over the past 50 years, and the water supply system that provides water to 60,000 residents of the Sovetsky city district will be repaired by the end of September. The Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, hold a working meeting at this facility today.
In 2024, various enterprises in the capital of Tatarstan will replace 64 kilometers of various engineering networks at 446 facilities. Of these, 23 kilometers, or 36%, will be carried out by the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal. According to Mayor Ilsur Metshin, this is nearly twice as much work as was done in previous two years.
“This year, Vodokanal has managed to accomplish almost twice as much work as in previous years. And this is the beginning, no one is sitting idly by, but still the most basic hopes are pinned on the program announced by the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. We have 4,000 kilometers of networks, which are worn out by 70%, so we need republican and a federal support. We hope that through joint efforts we will reach new volumes of capital construction and renovation works,”- the Mayor said.
Today, the Mayor visited the updated section of the networks, which stretches for 813 meters from Zhiganova str. to Akademika Sakharova str. The work started this summer, and planned to be completed by September 30. For this purpose, up to 25-30 workers and 10-15 special vehicles work at the site.
The reconstruction of the water pipeline involves the installation of monolithic and foundation block chambers, reinforced concrete bases, sanitary systems, as well as the cleaning of the pipe from deposits. The first phase is nearing completion - work on the chambers has been completed by 80%, with only two chambers remaining to be installed in the next section. Approximately 500 out of 800 network sections have been cleaned.
Shortly, the workers will commence the second phase of work – sanitization with the use of PyrusLine polymer composite sleeve. This will minimize the disruption to landscaping, as it does not require the complete excavation of the trench. Currently, the sleeve is being manufactured in Nizhny Novgorod using domestic materials.
Residents of the Sovetsky city district receive water through a duplicate pipeline. During the process of rerouting, the water supply is temporarily cut off at one location, but it is restored a few hours later.
The reconstruction work is being carried out as part of the federal program “Modernization of Municipal Infrastructure” and with the support of republican funding. Currently, the Municipal Enterprise Vodokanal is repairing 19 facilities as part of this program, including the water supply system on Albert Kamaleyev Avenue.
