<p> About 500 athletes under the guidance of 14 coaches are engaged at the Olympic Reserve Rowing School in Kazan. Recently, training classes for future champions have been held at the renovated venue on the embankment of Lake Kaban. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, looked around the venue for young athletes. </p> <p> <b>“We believe the number of champions will increase by improvement the training conditions”</b> </p> <p> Previously, the training ground was located at a different address. It was a small old house with no infrastructure. It has been used as a training ground since the 1960s. “Even in such conditions, champions, masters of sports and candidates for masters were born. We believe that with the change in the conditions for training, their number will increase”, - the Mayor said. </p> <p> The new training ground, which is now operating in test mode, has become a part of the landscaped embankment of Lake Kaban, one of the favorite recreation areas of Kazan residents and visitors of the city. There are places for storing boats and comfortable launching zones. </p> <p> Ivan Kovalkov, director of the sports school, gave a tour of the new building, where there are several locker rooms, a medical office, a coaching room and a room for classes. The walls are decorated with paddles, and the ceilings follow the curves of the waves. Ilsur Metshin left his wishes to the children on one of the puddles. </p> <p> The Mayor of Kazan also talked with the students of the sports school, who had a class at that time. The guys said that they were very happy to train at the renovated venue. </p> <p> In the coaching room, the Mayor was shown the awards of the school and told that the school was recognized as the best in the republic. </p> <p> <b>Boats of the global manufacturers</b> </p> <p> During the tour, the director of the sports school also showed the Mayor a place for storing boats. “In the Volga Region University, we had a limited number of places, and in winter we had to store boats outside. Now we can bring them here,”- Ivan Kovalkov noted. He added that the training sessions are held on the boats of global manufacturers. </p> <p> The Mayor drew attention to the large ten-person boat Dragon. “We have a team that participates in competitions on it. Our students in 2019 have become European winners among club youth teams”, - said the school director. </p> <p> The children, who had classes on the water at that time, told the head of the city about their sports plans, in particular, about their desire to participate in rowing competitions on boats of the Dragon class. </p>
