Vladimir Putin addresses to Russian citizens on the outcome the presidential election

The Head of State thanked all those who came to the polling stations

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens after the announcement of the official results of the presidential election.

Earlier, the Central Election Commission reported that the current president won 87.28% of the vote.

"This election campaign was intense and extremely important. At the end of the day, we were choosing Russia's future direction; we were deciding on our own future and that of our children. The absolute majority of the voters who cast their ballot realised the significance of this event,”- Vladimir Putin said.

He added that the support of Russians is more important to him than winning the elections, and promised to do everything to justify the trust.
