Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, accompanied by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, visited the Kazan Aircraft Plant named after S. Gorbunov within the framework of his working visit to Kazan. Dmitry Rogozin, the deputy prime minister of Russia, Sergeн Shoigu, the minister of Defense of Russia, Denis Manturov, te minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, also visited the facility.
The President of the RF observed the demonstration flight of a new supersonic strategic bomber-missile carrier Tu-160M under the program of flight-tests at the airfield complex. The plane was named after Petr Deinekin, the first commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, a well-deserved military pilot, a Hero of Russia, a general of the army, a Chevalier of more than 20 Soviet, Russian, and foreign orders.
The flight took place at an altitude of 300 meters and lasted about 7 minutes. The pilots carried out maneuvers to check the stability and controllability of the aircraft in the air, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
The decision on the reproduction of strategic missile carriers at the Kazan Aircraft Plant was made in 2015. The new aircraft was transferred from the final assembly shop to the flight-testing station of the plant in November 2017.
Tu-160M is the largest aircraft with a variable sweep wing, one of the most powerful military vehicles in the world. A new information management system will be installed on the aircraft, the advantage of which is the ability to collect, process, and output flight information in a single system. In addition, flight-navigation equipment, on-board communication complex, automatic on-board control system, on-board radar station, electronic countermeasure complex will be updated, the complex of control and management of fuel and centering, the engine management system are improved.
