Short German films of the Oberhausen Film Festival will be shown in the center “Smena”

Kazan viewers will see films in the original language with Russian subtitles.

(KZN.RU, January 10). Screenings of short German films fr om the collection of the Oberhausen Film Festival in the original language with Russian subtitles will begin on January 13 at 6 pm at the Center for Contemporary Culture “Smena”.

The film “Successful Pigs” (directed by Kerstin Honeyt, 12 minutes, Germany, 2013) combines two opposing phenomena of urban development: moving residents of rent apartments outside the city due to the attractiveness of the area for wealthy tenants and the experience of homeowners on the outskirts who love to feed wild boars.

The film “Layer” (directed by Alex Herboylet, 28 minutes, Germany, 2015) reveals the history of one family and the attempts of the main character to understand the past with the help of a family archive and travel to the industrial city of Salzgitter.

The film “Ali and His Garden” (directed by Undina Sipker, 14 minutes, Germany, 2010) tells about migrants fr om Turkey, Korea and East Prussia. After years of searching for happiness, they meet in the idyllic Ruhr area, wh ere each of them has its own small allotment. These 50 square meters of the land bring joy from the harvest, evening cliches and combining the national characteristics of different cultures with humor.

The film “Seven times a day we complain about our destiny, and we wake up at night so we don’t dream” (directed by Susan Maria Hempel, 18 minutes, Germany, 2014) tells a story of the tragic fate of the Thuringian unemployed. The film is shot in the form of a theatrical puppet show wh ere the dolls move with threads, doors and drawers open like magic, and the voice of the hero narrates his biography.

Another film that the audience will see is “Free Christmas” (directed by Silvia Holbaum, 8 minutes, Germany, 2004). Christmas market in Offenbach for many residents of the city has become an old good tradition, creating a special festive mood. More than 1000 such fairs exist in Germany and neighboring European countries. But there is no such event in Russia, however, everything may change.

The entrance to the show is by a voluntary contribution, reports the organizers of the CCC “Smena”.
