Teachers of the Year of Kazan 2023 were named in the capital of the republic of Tatarstan

The absolute winner was Yekaterina Lisina, a teacher of Russian language and literature at the Adymnar multilingual school.

Today, the Year of the Teacher and Mentor was launched at the awarding ceremony of the winners and prize–winners of the city stage of the professional skills competition Teacher of the Year 2023 at the Kazan City Hall. The best teacher was chosen among 91 finalists aged from 21 to 71. Yekaterina Lisina, a teacher of Russian language and literature at the Adymnar multilingual school, became the absolute winner of the competition – she will represent the capital of Tatarstan at the republican stage. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin congratulated the finalists.

“You have a special role in our lives, because it is you, our dear teachers, who discover the beautiful and exciting world of science, help to discover talents and choose a way of life, teach to distinguish white from black, good from bad. At all times teachers are respected and protected. I am happy to give a start to the Year of Teacher and Mentor in Kazan at our solemn event today,”- the head of the city said.

In his welcoming address, the Mayor noted that the teacher's vocation is to transfer knowledge and experience, form a personality and make the world a better place. This is a great work and a huge responsibility, while the profession of a teacher requires constant development and self-improvement. Ilsur Metshin reminded that Kazan teachers annually represent the city at republican and federal events. “Such success is another reason to be proud of you and a great example for other teachers, for those who may still doubt themselves,”- he said.

The city stage of the competition took place in Kazan from November to February. The number of applications for participation was more than 500. 91 people from 91 educational institutions took part in the final. The youngest contestant is 21 years old, the oldest is 71 years old. The competition was held in 11 nominations, including a new one – Teacher of inclusive education. The contestants in the nominations Science Teacher, Pedagogical debut and Teacher of the Tatar language took part in the press conference and answered the questions of the invited guests.

Tatarstan Minister of Education and Science Ilsur Khadiullin noted that Kazan education is of great importance for the education system not only of Tatarstan, but also in the whole country, and thanked the teachers of the city for their contribution to the development of children. “Young teachers and teachers-mentors are in this hall. The age difference between the youngest and the oldest contestant is 50 years. I congratulate you and wish you great achievements” - the minister said.

Yekaterina Lisina, a teacher of Russian language and literature at the Adymnar multilingual school, became the absolute winner of the competition. “I am overwhelmed with emotions, my heart is full of gratitude. I met like-minded people at the contest. It is very important to understand that you are not alone, that there are people looking in the same direction next to you. I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers of the contest, as well as to the staff of my school. Winning such professional competitions is not a victory of one person, but of the whole team,”- Yekaterina Lisina said.

The second place in the category Science Teacher was taken by Olga Solovyova from school No. 20 of the Moskovsky district, the third - Yekaterina Massarova from the IT Lyceum of Kazan Federal University. The winners in this nomination were Ulyana Alekseeva from school No. 156, Yulia Biryukova from school No. 93, Denis Kolesnikov from boarding school No.2, Gulnaz Khannanova from school No. 155 and Alexander Ivashkin from school No. 186.
