They were inspired by the craft of local architects to create an art object. The prototype of the art object became the window of the merchant houses in the historical part of the capital of Tatarstan. “When creating this object, we were inspired by the Tatar architecture. We took the casing of one of the merchant houses of the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda as an example. The most important thing was to convey the identity of the city, architectural continuity. This object will become a new “window” fr om where you can see Kazan in all its glory”, said Maria Milentieva.
They authors plans to decorate the entire city In each district with such art objects. “The craft of Tatar architects is unique. There are no identical windows of the houses. We want to establish such objects in each district in order to acquaint visitors and residents of the city with the culture of artisans”, Yulia Yunusova shared her plans.
The new art object will become a recognizable point of attraction in the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda. Residents and guests of the city can take unusual photos against the background of historic buildings and mosques. Olesya Baltusova noted that the “Window to Kazan” fits in with the architecture of the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda perfectly. “We can be proud of the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda, this is the heart of the city, wh ere architectural monuments are preserved. Kayum Nasyri Street pleases with restored wooden architecture monuments, this work will be continued further”, said Olesya Baltusova. She added that next year the opening of the Tom Sawyer Fest, a festival for the restoration of the historical environment, will take place on Fatikh Karim Street.
