1500 athletes from Russia and abroad took part in the triathlon competitions in Kazan

The victory in the all-around victory was won by Andrey Bryukhankov, a member of the triathlon national team, a sportsman from Rybinsk.

(KZN.RU, August 6, Ksenia Shvetsova). Last weekend, Kazan hosted competitions in triathlon, in which 1500 athletes from Russia, CIS countries, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, and Egypt took part. Andrey Bryukhankov, a member of the triathlon national team from Rybinsk, became the all-around champion with a result of 3 hours 55 minutes. Kazan athlete Roman Evgrafov won the third place in this discipline, just 7 minutes behind the leader.

Svetlana Vostrikova, the chairperson of the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports, reported on the results of the past competitions today at the Business Monday. She noted that Russia's triathlon among juniors under 19 and paratroopers was held within the framework of the competitions. The swimming stage took place in the water area of the Kazanka River. After leaving the water, the participants of the competitions consistently went to the cycling stage through the transit zone, the route of which passed along the main streets of the city.

591 participants went to the start of the most difficult discipline: a swim at a distance of 1 km 930 m, a bicycle stage at 90 km, and running at a half-marathon distance of 21 km 100 m. According to S. Vostrikova, there were many well-known athletes among them. For example, Maksim Vylegzhanin, the silver medalist of the Olympic Games-2014. He finished the distance with the result of 4 hours and 22 minutes. “There were not the best weather conditions and a complicated cycling track with differences in altitude”, noted S. Vostrikova. She added that the most important fact is that the competitions were attended by non-professional athletes. Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee, was among them; he won the 13th place, having passed the distance with the result of 5 hours 4 minutes.

The Triathlon in Kazan is gaining popularity, said S. Vostrikova. On September 1, a triathlon department at the children's and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve for athletics will open at the Central Stadium. “We invite Kazan citizens to sign up for this interesting sport”, she said.
