<p> More than 170 thousand tourists visited Kazan during the New Year holidays – this is 12% more than last year. This was announced today on Business Monday by the director of the committee for tourism development Daria Sannikova. </p> <p> The average hotels occupancy in the New Year holidays was 79.6%, and in the peak dates on January 3-5 -reached 97%. On average, tourists stayed in Kazan for 2-3 nights. </p> <p> According to D. Sannikova, the number of individual tourists has increased compared to group tours. “Most of the visitors came traditionally from Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as from Siberia, Yekaterinburg and the cities of the Volga Federal district”, - she said. </p> <p> “Kazan again received a large flow of tourists. We are glad that more and more people from Tatarstan and other regions come to us for New Year holidays – commented the mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. – The more tourists, the higher the level of competition in this market, which means a higher level of quality of service”. </p>
