An exhibition of Nadzhip Nakkash, the classic of Tatar shamail, will open in the Museum of Islamic Culture

The works of the recognized master will complement the works of the designer and artist Nazim Ismagilov.

(KZN.RU, January 31). On February 7, an exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the creative path and the 70th anniversary of Nadzhip Nakkash, a classic of Tatar shamail, opens in Kazan at the Museum of Islamic Culture.

The author’s personal exhibition will present his works in such genres as tugra (personal signs, family sigils), shadzhara (genealogy), shamail (compositions combining calligraphy and painting), lyaukha (works with literary quotes). For the first time, shamails from the set “The Great Personalities of the Tatar Nation” will be on display, including those devoted to Rizaetdin Fakhretdinov, Shigabutdin Mardzhani, Gayaz Iskhaki.

A set of Nadzhip Nakkash’s shamails will be presented from the collection of the reserve-museum “Kazan Kremlin”. It is dedicated to the prophets of Abrahamic religions: Yakub, Yusuf, Ayub, and Musa.

The calligraphic works will be complemented by the installation of Bulat Galeev “Singing Shamail” and “Singing Tugra” created together with Nadzhip Nakkash. These works combine national melody with national ornament, arabographic writing.

The works of the recognized master will complement the works of the designer and artist Nazim Ismagilov. The calligraphic compositions of Nazim, a member of the hip-hop group Ittifaq, are devoted to Kazan, the poet-hero Musa Jalil and the classic Gabdulla Tukay, reports the press service of the museum.

Nadzip Nakkash is the winner of the State Prize of the RT of G. Tukay, a classic of Tatar shamail. He was one of the first to revive the traditions of this art. His works are bright, masterfully ornamented with national patterns, and recognizable.
