David Hoey, the executive director of WorldSkills International, told about the values of future championship and its history.
(KZN.RU, March 27, Alina Berezhnaya). Today the WorldSkills lesson was held in the lyceum №177 located on the house №17 of Musin street in Novo-Savinovsky district of Kazan. David Hoey, the executive director of WorldSkills International, told the students about the history of the.championship of working professions, its values and importance for Kazan to host the world scale competition which will be held in the capital city of the RT in this August.
Before the beginning of lesson Ildar Imamov, the director of the lyceum №177, conducted guided tour around the school and cabinets for David Hoey. So, the guest saw the lessons of labour and technologies, where the girls learn to decorate pies with mastic and take courses in cutting and dressmaking or work in the handicraft section, and boys in fitter's and joiner's shops learn the skills of grooving wood and create rivet connections. As I.Imamov told, the curriculum in the lyceum is constructed so that the children are able to get acquainted with working specialities. «We pay a big attention to the professional orientation of our pupils. The children from early age should know about what they want to do in future. That is why our pupils are acquainted with the base knowledge of many competence of WorldSkills», - told the director of the lyceum №177.
The educational institution can rightly be called school of future. Here it is paid attention not only to study, but also all-around development of lyceum students. David Hoey evaluated the museums of the Great Domestic war and information technologies created in the lyceum. To the word, in creation of museums active participation was accepted by the children. «We believe that before you choose the profession of fututre, it is necessary to learn the base elements of information technologies, therefore our pupils are acquainted with the first cellular phones, computers and other technique in the museum», - told Nuriya Gayazova, the deputy director of the lyceum №177.
The arrival of the guest has already made the lyceum history - during the excursion David Hoey visited the studio of school television «Kvartal», where he gave an interview to young journalist - Valerya Kuznetsova, the schoolgirl of Grade 11. The girl took an interest at David Hoey of the role of Russia in the development of WorldSkills movement. «It is important to me to see the development of WorldSkills movement in schools. Frequently parents from all over the world want their children to enter university. We advance working professions through schools. It is necessary to explain to the schoolers that working specialities are an interesting profession with good money. I am shocked that in Russia the authority of working specialities is actively growing», - answered David Hoey.
Talking to the schoolers about the values of WorldSkills movement was going on in one of the school classes. The meeting with children was held within the project «One school - one country», where Tatarstan schoolers would learn more of working specialities. David Hoey told about the history of the world championship, its role and value for the whole world. «There is the future in WorldSkills movement, it is the championship which opens to the children eyes to many things, shows the latitude of opportunities and perspectives. I noticed that after each championship the amount of young specialists is increased who choose working professions, it is positively reflected on the national economy», - noted David Hoey and invited all schoolers to visit the world's championship WorldSkills which will be held this year from August 22 to August 27 in Kazan.
We will remind more than 1600 participants from more than 60 countries will take part in the competition. Young profis will compete in 56 competences.
