A meeting of representatives of the Executive Committee of Kazan with a delegation of Turkish Izmir was held at the Kazan city Hall

The participants discussed cooperation in tourism and business, as well as holding joint congresses and exhibitions.

Today, a meeting of representatives of the Kazan Executive Committee with the delegation of Turkish Izmir was held at the Kazan city Hall. The meeting was attended by the Vice-mayor of Kazan Evgenia Lodvigova, deputy head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Ildar Shakirov, chairman of the Committee of housing and communal services Dmitry Anisimov, head of IT&C department Rifat Khannanov and Plenipotentiary representative of Tatarstan in Turkey Aydar Gataullin.

The Turkish side was represented by the mayor of Izmir Tunç Soyer, Vice-Consul of the Republic of Turkey in Kazan Murat Taşdemir, deputies of the Izmir city Council, councilors of the mayor and representatives of the Izmir city administration.

When opening the meeting, Evgenia Lodvigova congratulated the mayor of Izmir on his appointment as co-President of the World organization “United Cities and Local Governments” (UCLG).

“The distance of thousands of miles that separates Tatarstan and Turkey do not stand in the way to the development of friendly relations and fruitful cooperation. The current meeting can launch the implementation of new joint projects,” the Vice-mayor of Kazan said. Thus, the participants of the meeting discussed cooperation in the fields of tourism, business, as well as in holding joint congresses and exhibitions.

Izmir mayor Tunç Soyer is convinced that Izmir and Kazan have great potential in the tourism sector. He proposed to develop the exchange of tourist flows between the cities. In particular, he noted that the thermal springs of Izmir can appeal Russian tourists. Evgenia Lodvigova supported the initiative.

The guests also discussed the possibility of implementing joint projects and exchanging experience in the field of high-tech solutions, information initiatives and entrepreneurship. This cooperation can be developed on the basis of special economic zones or IT parks, as Rifat Khannanov reported.

Ildar Shakirov spoke on the sphere of business cooperation. “We are pleased to see interest in the exchange not only of tourist operators, but also business missions and business representatives”, - he said.

“I am sure that this meeting is a start on the way to the upcoming big projects”, - Evgenia Lodvigova summed up the discussion.
