The foundation of the Suyumbike Tower will be reinforced in Kazan

The opening of the tower for visiting is being discussed in the Tatarstan Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites with architects-restorers.

The foundation of the Suyumbike tower, which is located in the Kazan Kremlin, will be reinforced. Specialists have already conducted engineering researches and prepared a project of emergency work, which will begin shortly.

At the second stage, workers will carry out the restoration of the tower inside and outside. Specialists will replace the destroyed bricks. During the emergency and restoration works, the territory of the historical site will be fenced.

The possibility of visiting interior premises of the tower is currently being discussed in the Tatarstan Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites with architects-restorers.

The tower was built in the XVII–XVIII centuries. The 58-meter-high building served as a watchtower, from the top of which a panorama of the surrounding area is viewed. The last time the foundation was reinforced in 1998. Now the tower is in the process of museumification, according to the website of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve.

In addition to the restoration of the Suyumbike Tower, the improvement of the yard of the Government Agencies is underway in the Kremlin. Now construction workers are dismantling the old asphalt and preparing the ground for laying a new one from granite paving stones. An additional element of the coating will be cast iron plates, which will be placed on the territory adjacent to the building.

Preparations are also underway to install a reinforced concrete structure for a pond with a depth of 10 centimeters. It will become part of a new space of a comfortable and accessible environment for visitors in the Kazan Kremlin, the Press Office of the Tatarstan Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites reports.
