Contactless fare payment via the app to be introduced in the Kazan electric transport

Metroelectrotrans signed an agreement of intent on the introduction of contactless payment with Yandex Go at the Kazan Digital Week forum

Contactless fare payment will be introduced in the Kazan electric transport via the Yandex Go mobile app. An agreement on the introduction of this new service was signed between the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Metroelectrotrans and Yandex Go at the Kazan Digital Week forum.

This new feature will allow passengers to pay for their rides using a QR code or Bluetooth technology by using the Yandex Go app on their iOS and Android smartphones. This will provide extra convenience for passengers.

The Agreement on the introduction of contactless payment in public transport in Kazan was signed at the Kazan Digital Week forum by the CEO of the company Aidar Abdulkhakov in the presence of Alexander Vasilchenko, the Head of the Department for State Policy in the automobile and urban passenger transport of the Russian Ministry of Transport, and Airat Sadykov, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In 2024, over 80.5 million people used trams, trolleybuses and metro in Kazan. Modern solutions are particularly important for such a large number of passengers, as noted by Metroelectrotrans – navigation and paying for trips in one app is crucial.

Existing payment systems via terminals will continue to operate as well.
